COPPER AND BRASS ARE LIVING METALS
Copper and brass are living metals, meaning their surface continues to react to air, moisture, touch, and everyday use.
The finish you see on day one is not fixed. It will evolve over time, developing depth, character, and natural variation.
Every patina finish we create is applied by hand. No two pieces are ever the same.
Patina is not a paint or coating. It is a controlled chemical reaction that alters the surface of the metal itself. Because it is applied manually and reacts uniquely to each piece, subtle variation in tone, depth, and movement is expected.
What To Expect Over Time
As your sink is used, you may notice:
• Darkening in high-touch areas
• Lighter areas where water flows and dries
• Subtle spotting or tonal movement
• Ongoing color shifts that develop gradually
All of these are normal characteristics of living metal.
Choosing The Right Finish For Your Lifestyle
Living metal is meant to be lived with.
Understanding how copper and brass change allows you to choose a finish with confidence, knowing how it will develop in your home. Some clients prefer a lighter starting tone and enjoy watching it deepen over time. Others prefer a darker initial finish that blends variation from the beginning.

Copper And Brass Are Meant To Evolve
Each piece is shaped by hand, then shaped again through time and use. When you understand that process, you’re able to choose a finish intentionally, knowing it will continue to develop character long after it’s installed.
We offer a range of patina finishes from lighter to darker tones to help establish a starting point. These ranges guide the initial appearance but do not lock the finish in place. Over time, the surface will continue to shift, deepen, lighten, or develop contrast based on use and environment.
Copper is known for its natural antimicrobial properties. Unlike many surfaces that simply hold onto bacteria until they’re cleaned, copper continuously works against microbes on its surface. That’s one of the reasons copper has been used for generations in functional, high-touch environments.
We do not clear coat the interior of our sinks since clear coatings can wear and eventually peel over time. Clear coating is only available on brushed aprons. Our patina finishes are meant to evolve naturally with use, just like copper and brass should.
